In preparation for All Saints' Day statues and graves get a new layer of paint at the cemetery in Jinotepe, a small town 40km south of Managua.

All Saints' Day falls on November 1, followed by All Souls' Day on November 2. The days are spent visiting the graves of deceased relatives, where prayers and flowers are offered, candles are lit and the graves are cleaned, repaired and repainted.
