The film invites children from 9-13 on a journey with Marianne Leer to southern India.
The film is about the daily life of children in Muthupatty, which is one of the poorest areas in the southern Indian city, Madurai, where everyday life is very different and sometimes difficult.
Throughout the film's narrative the children are introduced to the UN's Millennium goals. The targets are a number of specific time-bound targets in combating poverty, hunger, disease, illiteracy and discrimination of women.

Filmen indbyder børn fra 9-13 år på en rejse IND I EN anden verden sammen med Marianne Leer, kendt fra KFUM og KFUMs Børnefestival 2008.

Filmen handler om livet og dagligdagen for børn fra Lektiecafeen i Muthupatty, der er et af de fattigste områder i den sydindiske storby Madurai. Et liv hvor hverdagen er helt anderledes og nogle gange meget vanskelig.

Gennem filmens fortælling får børnene en introduktion til FN’s 2005 mål. Målene er en række konkrete, tidsbestemte mål for at bekæmpe fattigdom, sult, sygdomme, analfabetisme og diskrimination af kvinder.
